At What Age Is the Brain Fully Developed?

The development of the brain is a complex process that continues well into a person’s 20s. While some basic structures of the brain are formed before birth, significant maturation and refinement occur throughout childhood, adolescence, and even into early adulthood.

Research suggests that the prefrontal cortex, which is involved in decision-making, impulse control, and judgment, is one of the last brain regions to fully mature. This process typically continues until the mid-20s or even later for some individuals. However, it’s essential to note that brain development varies from person to person, and there isn’t a precise age at which the brain can be considered fully developed for everyone.
